I've been having pretty good luck with my Etsy store but I've decided to revisit selling paintings and prints again on Amazon in their Handmade section as I've been reading that Amazon is making a push for handmade items again.  They have expanded into more countries.  So I've revamped my store there, signed up for some ad campaigns, and put some new listings up!  We'll see if I get any traffic.  Hoping holiday shoppers will start soon.  Here is the link if you want to check it out!

One of my favorite places in the world is Charleston, South Carolina.  I am happiest at the beach and Charleston has it all!  Beaches, marshes, an active city life, the arts, and great restaurants.  I hope to move there one day.  In the meantime I fantasize about living there by painting it!  My favorite areas are the marshes.  I don't know why but looking at the calm water and lovely grasses are just gorgeous to me.  Even better is when the sky is doing something neat like lots of moving clouds or sunrises or sunsets with lots of vivid color.  I will never tire of painting that area and others must agree because I've sold more marsh paintings than any other subject.  So I'll keep painting them!

A few years ago I was able to go on a vacation for a week to Bald Head Island North Carolina.  It was a magical place.  You had a to take a ferry to get there and no cars are allowed.  You get everywhere on foot or by golf cart or bicycle.  Not a very big island but oh so pretty.  One of the landmarks is "Old Baldy" the lighthouse there.  I have painted "Old Baldy" several times in different lights with different backgrounds and they have all sold out!  I must not be the only one with fond memories of this special place.  This gem will be available in my Etsy store soon!

It's interesting selling your art on-line.  You get some statistics about how many items you sell and when but not a lot of information about who is buying it other than name & address.  I'm not surprised that most of my shoppers are women as we tend to be the ones decorating our homes but once in awhile I do get husbands shopping for gifts.  I have sold paintings all over the country but the one of the most popular subject matters have been my Marsh paintings of the southern United States.  I'm not sure if it's because people have visited that area and want a memory or if it's because I enjoy painting that area the most.  I would describe my style as modern impressionist art.  I love painting places I've visited.  Contact me if you would like a custom commission!

A new customer saw this painting in my Etsy store but it was 11 x 14 and she wanted it in 18 x 24 so I repainted it for her.  It was for her master bedroom in Milwaukee.  She was very pleased with it!  I enjoy painting commissions for people because then they get exactly what they want.  Feel free to contact me with any requests for customization.
